Booger Buddies

So, the Steelers won last night, which makes me pretty happy. I'm still struggling with the fact that Ben is a rapist (ALLEGEDLY, pfft) but I find my way around that by rooting for other teammates like Mendenhall, Mewelde Moore and Hines Ward. Troy didn't factor as much as I would have liked, but beggars can't be choosers and a win is a win. I did catch the booger wipe and I was buzzing pretty hard but I think they replayed it on air. Maybe boogers are Sanchez's kryptonite?

Obama Nominates Dan Rooney as Ambassador to Ireland

Wow. I know that he raised a lot of money for President Obama and helped him take the state away from McCain but I had no idea he gave that much. Here are the life-long Republicans credentials, as I found them on Deadspin:

Dan Rooney is the recent recipient of the American Ireland Fund’s Lifetime Achievement Award and honorary Commander of the British Empire for contributions to peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland, has played an integral role in the Irish peace process since the early 1970s. In 1976, Rooney co-founded the American Ireland Fund, an organization which to date has raised over $300 million for peace and education programs in Ireland. Rooney founded the annual prize for Irish Literature in 1987 and co-founded the Ireland Institution of Pittsburgh in 1989. In 1993, the “Rooney Fellowship” was created to honor his generosity and charitable works. Chairman of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the winners of Super Bowl XLIII, Rooney was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. He has been the recipient of various awards in relation to his work within the community and for his involvement with the National Football League over the last 26 years, including: the Sporting News NFL Executive of the Year in 1972 and 2001, the Maxwell Football Club Reds Bagwell Award in 1999, and, in 2008, the YWCA Racial Justice Award and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor presented by the National Ethnic Coalition. Rooney also led the sports world’s efforts to include diversity beyond the field and into the front office through the “Rooney Rule.”

Santonio Holmes Two Feet In

For all the doubters out there, here is an actual picture taken from behind Santonio and it clearly shows both feet (toes?) on the ground. I was reading a comment on NBC where a girl points out that they take ballet for a reason, and this is proof that those lessons pay off. Remember when they first started doing that and the hilarious video of 200+ pound guys trying to be graceful? Hippos in tutus had nothing on those guys.

Epic Fail Tramp Stamp

It's pretty obvious that I love the Steelers and my boyfriend can prove it by the high stress alert he'll be on this weekend for the Super Bowl, beleive me. But this Steelers tramp stamp seems mildly retarded at first until you realize that the signature she had tattooed next to the half naked chick belongs to a HCwDB all star and Steelers kicker, Jeff Reed. Look at that hair. Just be happy that I didn't post the picture of him with a bare chest. I'm feeling nice today and I spared your retinas from viewing his sad, droopy pepperoni nipples. Oh, and I take it all back if he wins the game for us on Sunday.

The Steelers say they have a new fan in the White House and the new president also has one of the team's most recent prized collectibles, a game ball from their victory in the AFC championship game Sunday.
Dan Rooney and his son Jim personally delivered the football to Barack Obama Monday night in Washington, D.C.
The two Rooneys, who campaigned heavily for Obama in Pennsylvania and three surrounding states for several months before the election, attended the black-tie dinner at the Washington Hilton that Obama held for Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate he defeated in November. The Obama campaign invited the Rooneys.
The 44th president, on the eve of his inauguration, spoke at the dinner about McCain before he left for another dinner he held for Colin Powell. Obama met with Dan and Jim Rooney in a separate room at the Hilton, where he received the game ball.
"He's a Bears fan first, he admits that,'' Dan Rooney said yesterday at the Steelers UPMC training center. "But he's a Steelers' fan. He's said it, and all his staff, they're rooting for us [in the Super Bowl]."
Also in attendance was former Steelers Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris.
While Dan Rooney knew the Kennedys and was particularly close with Bobby Kennedy, he said he's never been as close with a president as he is to Obama, whom he calls a friend.

AFC Championship Game Highlights

Super Bowl Bound

This game had me on the edge of my seat, pacing back and forth, screaming and wailing. And Troy's interception for a touchdown sealed the deal. Then what happens? Clark crashes into McGahee with such force that they have to take him away on a stretcher-mobile. Talk about a buzzkill. It's hard to be celebrating in the face of a team that might have just lost one of their best players.

Aw, screw it. FUCK YOU, RAVENS! We are going to the Super Bowl!

Fleury in a Steelers Helmet

The Penguins beat the Rangers in a shutout 3-0 today, and to show his support for that other Pittsburgh team, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury donned a Steelers helmet and waved a Terrible Towel around the ice after the win. Bring us luck, supa-stahh!!

I Wonder What Today is Going to be Like in This House

Mom is a Steelers fan, son likes Philly and dad loves the Ravens. And I have that pen!

Steelers defeat Chargers 35-24

I am a happy, happy girl. What a game! I am too excited to make too much sense right now, but we beat the Chargers and it is on to the Ravens. I will be wearing my pink Polamalu jersey until then, even if it stinks so bad that homeless people run from the smell! Yay, Steelers. And now, sleepy time.

James Harrison is the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year

It had to happen. It had to be someone from the number one defense, right? Sorry, Troy. I still love you but James had 16 sacks. That's takes a lot of balls.

Plus, he's from my home town of Akron and went to my Alma Mater, Kent State. And if I don't say nice things about him he will probably kill me.

Steelers Squeek By the Ravens

If I knew a single person who admitted to being a Ravens fan, I'd be hearing about this touchdown all week. What an exhausting game. What defense. What hatred. Even Jeff Reed, the kicker, got a penalty for unneccessary roughness!

You Taste Like Ass, Romo

Wow. What a game. I was rolling on the floor, grabbing the puppy, screeching and gasping. I couldn't find any pictures of Mike Tomlin jumping up and down like a kid at Christmas so we'll have to make do with a Romo sack (looove the hands flailing). Harrison, Polamalu, and Deshea Townsend all had stellar games, the D is still ranked no.1 in all catagories except tackles and ints, and T.O. threw a hissy fit after Deshea scored at the last minute on his big interception. This game had everything, except Romo's girlfriend Jessica Simpson, but that's not a bad thing.

And then I slept like a baby.

Another Great Game for the Steelers Defense

Forcing 5 turnovers helped the Steelers steamroll the Patriots 33-10. I'm happy and must go to sleep now curled up in my black and gold blanket. The next 4 weeks won't be easy so I'm going to enjoy this before I have an anurism some time in the next month. Thank you, D.

Hines Ward Feeds the Needy

This Thankgiving Hines Ward and a few of his teammates fed the homeless and needy people of Pittsburgh at his restaurant South Side 86. He has been volunteering for the Salvation Army for the past few years but this time he had his own eatery so he had the ability to host everyone himself. Kudos to you, Hines. Now let's translate the good Karma into a win today!

No Headline Needed

So, the Steelers won 11-10 last night and Santonio had a pretty good game with 60-some yards, and one was a pick-up of 19.
Funny. Every time he showed up on screen I got a craving for............

Steelers Win 23-6

Big Ben went out with a shoulder injury and Byron Leftwich, the boy who grew up sneaking into Redskins games, stepped up to the plate with 2 touchdowns.

I'm ready for another win, so it's off to the polls!

UPDATE: We got there early, and there was a good turnout. It only took an hour, what a relief. Now we play the waiting game.

My Plan Tonight

Going to give the puppy her meds, hope the Steelers win, get a good night's sleep, get up early and vote along with the rest of you. Take a book to the polls because you never know, this is supposed to be the biggest voter turnout on record, and you could be there a while. Can't wait untill it's all over. Sweet dreams everybody.
