No Winners Here

Can we just get campaign finance reform already? I don't care which side of the aisle you sit on, this is just ridiculous. No one that works for any news organization should be giving to any politician EVER.

Pissed At The PGA

In case you weren't watching, Dustin Johnson hit out of a messy sandy rough on the 18th and then qualified for a 3-way play-off for winner of the PGA Championship. They ruled, after he went to turn his score card in, that he was in a bunker when it just looked like a messy unkempt rough.
I sent this email to the PGA at webmaster.pga@turner.com. Since then all news stories of the bunker incident have been taken down. Also, I'm confused. When I watch golf and someone makes an error, the PGA tour official assigned to them informs them of that fact right away. Why did the official assigned to Watney and Johnson sit idly by and say nothing? He clearly grounded his club before he even addressed the ball! Shouldn't he have gotten the penalty strokes THEN?!!
Here's my email-
Re: the decision to penalize Dustin Johnson for grounding is club because it was in a bunker- What a terrible moment for golf. Where was the PGA official when you allowed dozens of spectators to stand in this so-called 'bunker' as Dustin Johnson made his shot? I can't remember ever seeing anyone being permitted to do so, and I've been watching and playing golf since the 70s. This is compete and utter nonsense, and unimaginably hypocritical. You eliminate someone because of the rules when you didn't enforce them in the first place? Embarrassing.
Just awful.

Here's Mr. Mcslore's email, and if you were as pissed as we were, then send one of your own as well.
As an avid PGA fan, I want to ensure that my opinion is at least seen- BOOO!!! There is not even an accurate count of the number of "sand traps" on the Whistling Straights golf course, therefor, without even an accurate count no one even knows whether to warn Dustin Johnson that he is in a "sand trap" and should not ground his club. And if it truly was a "sand trap" why were spectators standing in it during Dustin's strike? To deny him his rightful place in the PGA playoff in these circumstances is a travesty.
Update: Okay, I'm still mad. If this wee spot of sandy dirt with random tufts of grass in it was truly a bunker, why wasn't it cordoned off? There were people standing on it when he tee'd off and normally there would be rope strung across preventing spectators from entering the area and course volunteers enforcing it. This is why I continue to call BULLSHIT. I could care less that they are now claiming that they gave all the golfers a piece of paper saying that EVERYTHING was a hazard. Then keep EVERY Tom, Dick and Harriet off of it! They need to figure their shit out before they are allowed to host another PGA event. This is beyond ridiculous. And poor kayner. His win is forever going to be tainted with the stink of crappy officiating.

Reddit Hero

I read Reddit a lot. I even have an app on my phone. Some of the threads are so funny that I look like a crazy person when caught laughing at my Droid in public. They have some of the smartest and funniest commentors on the internet. Now we can add generous to that list-

Should A Guy Go To Jail For This?

An older gentlemen left this note on a comment card he found in the seat pocket in front of him on a flight to Maui-
I thought I was going to die, we were so high up, I thought to myself: I hope we don’t crash and burn or worse yet landing in the ocean (?) through it, only to be eaten by sharks, or worse yet end up on some place like Gilligan’s island stranded, or worse yet be eaten by a tribe of headhunters, speaking of headhunters why do they eat outsiders and not the family members? Strange…and what if the plane ripped apart in mid-flight and we plummeted to earth, landed on Gilligan’s Island and then lived through it, and the only woman there was Mrs. Thurston Howell III? No MaryAnne (my favorite), no Ginger – just lovely! If it were just her, I think I’d opt for the sharks, maybe the headhunters.

They are charging him with interfering with the crew, a felony! What the hell? Couldn't they do their jobs through their laughter? I say, give him a mental evaluation, an ascot and a highball and send him on his way back to Sunnydale. Seriously.

Look Who Got Old

It's Charles Manson! Now if only he would drop dead already, instead of people who deserve to live. (see Natasha Richardson, below)

I Thought I'd Never Say This

But today I am proud to be a Clevelander. The city council has approved a domestic partnership agreement giving same sex couples the same benefits as us breeders. (Of course, we in Cleveland Hghts being the uber-liberals that we are, already beat them to it)

Saving New Orleans

Brad Pitt is on the cover of the January issue of Architectural Digest posed in front of one of the many homes he is helping to get built in his adopted home of New Orleans. It's his pet project and I'm glad he's bring so much attention to a problem that a lot of people have forgotten about, or are so worried about losing their own homes that they can't afford to care.
Oh, and he's no longer on my gimme list. HRH Angie has sucked all the hot out of him and all that's left is this Tom Skeritt-looking guy.

Hines Ward Feeds the Needy

This Thankgiving Hines Ward and a few of his teammates fed the homeless and needy people of Pittsburgh at his restaurant South Side 86. He has been volunteering for the Salvation Army for the past few years but this time he had his own eatery so he had the ability to host everyone himself. Kudos to you, Hines. Now let's translate the good Karma into a win today!

Vicktory Dogs Wine

A series of 22 labels have been created, each depicting one of the dogs rescued from Michael Vick. A percentage of the proceeds will go to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary where the dogs are being rehabilitated.

That's what I'll tell myself next time I polish a bottle off in record time! I'm doing it for the dogs!!

Nets are Doing the Right Thing

The New Jersey Nets are giving away free ticket to the unemployed and if you send in a resume they will try to hook you up with one of their 400 sponsers. All of sports should be doing this right now. I'm a Cavs fan and I hope they follow suit since Northeast Ohio is doing so badly right now. It's the least they can do considering how much money they take in.

Didn't know JayZ had it in him. Ticket sales must be horrible.

Food Comas for Everybody!

It's almost that time of year where we eat like pigs and watch football. All the guys fall asleep on the couch while all the women clean up in the kitchen. Before my boyfriend's favorite holiday gets here, remember to donate food to your local shelters and pantries. Things are so bad that our local library will forgive up to a dollar in fines if you bring a bag of food in. (that just so happens to be exactly what I owe)
If you can't afford to do that, then volunteer at your local church or shelter to pass out food this Thanksgiving. You'll get a free meal, the satisfaction of helping others, and good Karma points.

Animals Love People

Do you love animals? Then adopt one. I don't want to hear any excuses. I wouldn't have the beautiful dogs that I have now if someone had been responsible and taken care of them so they didn't have to be adopted. I'm lucky. They are wonderful. I don't plan on doing too many personal posts but when it comes to defenseless animals and children it doesn't get more personal than that to me. Do the right thing. Adopt. Some people can't afford to keep them any more due to the economic climate we are in, so get yourself a Spot or a Fluffy. Save a life. http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=adopt_home
